C is for Catchup & W is for Wednesday

It seems as though it has been forever since I had a chance to sit and write a bit. Summer is busy and with two little ones in the house I am feeling overwhelmed on many fronts. I had forgotten (with 5 years between the kids) how much time must be devoted to babies and that in the long run I spend most of my day putting people down for nap or to bed at the end of the night. Logan is still (not today, but usually) taking about three naps a day which pretty much leaves me with just a couple of minutes of free time after changing diapers, feeding, nursing and playing…. When is it that kids decide that Mommy is useless? I kind of hope that it’s soon.

Even with all of my complaining, Logan is wonderful. The first tooth has FINALLY cut through and I can feel the second, third and fourth ones just waiting to pop out. Hopefully they’ll all come in quick succession so that I don’t have to deal with too much more of the teething business. Aside from teething, Logan is “cruising” the furniture now (pulling up to stand and then walking around while holding on to things) and I suspect that he’ll be walking all on his own by the time Hunter starts school in September. My kids do things WAY TOO early! Hunter walked at just about 8 months and it looks as though Logan is going to beat that record.

It has been hot and humid here the last couple of days which has meant that I haven’t gone out for my nightly walks. I am missing them, but I just do not have the need to go out in a zillion degree weather and push a stroller while walking at a very quick pace. Maybe it will cool off in the next day or so and then I can make up for my missed walks.

(the cute little frame here is by Tracy Ann)

Now. I have to tell you all. I am in love. Yes, I have found a new love. No, this will not come between me and the HU, but it could come between me and my savings account. Yesterday in the mail I received two new catalogs. Now, I get zillions of catalogs and I usually just toss them in the recycling bin, but these two caught my eye. I love clothes and I have been on an eternal search (since losing a ton of weight in 2004) for a line of clothing that will fit my personal style and life. The HU describes my style as “classic with a little bit of funk” and when it comes down to it, he’s really right. I struggle these days though to find the line between the casual stay at home and play with the kids clothes and the things that I think make me look good and feel good. I can’t walk around in my pjs all day every day and I know that I feel happier and more secure if I’m dressed nicely. But who makes “nice” clothing that isn’t meant to go to the office with you? Who makes a line of things that’s perfect for hip moms? I’ll tell you who.

Boden. This catalog is a dream come true for me. There is not a single piece on any page that I would shut out of my closet. This catalog might as well be called “Anna’s wardrobe wishes come true” because it is that freaking perfectly suited for me. If I was rich and famous and being photographed at every turn of the corner I would be sending Johnnie Boden a letter telling him that I would love one of everything and that I would tell everyone who was dressing me every single day, that I would eat, sleep and drink Boden clothing and shoes (and bags) and that every woman in the US would be in love with his clothing as fast as I was when they saw the hip mommy wandering the streets. Now, I suspect that I can convince you guys that you too will love Boden, but I do not suspect that I will be receiving any gift boxes from them any time soon. I can wish though.

Tops on my “shopping list” for the fall are:

Oi! With that I am going to have to stop as it has gotten way past my bed time… I will fill you in on my other catalog find tomorrow along with more pictures of the kids, maybe a freebie something or another and my usual blabber. I’m trying to get back on schedule with writing… hopefully I’ll be able to find some time each night. (Oh! Frames are from Nancy Comelab). Have a lovely Thursday everyone! Nighty night.

There were 5 years between my 1st and 2nd, too, and yes, it’s a real shocker to the system to go back to a baby after you’ve gotten one to the point where they can dress themselves! (Only 18 months, though, between my 2nd and 3rd, which presents a whole different kind of shock to the system! lol! But when you marry someone who becomes a father for the first time at 42, and he suddenly decides he may want another one, but doesn’t want to be ancient when they finally leave the house, you don’t have the luxury of another 5 year span between boys! ;-) ). Hang in there — it really does get better when they hit about 4 (and the older one can do more to help each year!). I even get to sleep in now! :-)
Boden doesn’t look like my style, but I definitely know what you mean about wanting a comfortable but chic style for home!! I feel like a slob most days…. ~sigh~….I’ll solve that problem eventually, I suppose!

if you’d care to be parted from the rest of your hard-earned cash, take a look at mini-boden …

Ooh, I visited the website and OMG, love the coats! They’re quite bold, I’m not sure I’d be able to actually wear them, but they are great eye candy.
Anna, with your ratings, they’d be blessed if you did a few ads of things you like in their collection. I’m sure there will be many, many clicks today! Why don’t you put on your business face and offer it to them? Doesn’t hurt to ask, right?
Oh boy. Just found out they have an UK store… This will not end well…
It’s great to read you! Been a while…

Those are gorgeous clothes - must have a look for something similar here in the UK. I think Next (UK) is probably the closest to Boden. Glad that tooth has come through. Jorja (my granddaughter) is about a 3 weeks older than Hunter and we’re still waiting for that tooth. She’s been pretty good even though you can see it’s bothering her but I know her mum and dad will be glad when it’s finally through! Oh and it may not feel like it now, but you will get your own time back soon enough ;) Those baby/toddler/little kid years go by so quickly. x

I’ve only ordered Boden for my kids and DH, but we love the quality! They have great sales too. Here’s a link for 12% off plus free shipping and returns: http://tinyurl.com/2fsl5j — you may be able to stack that with a %age back from ebates too. :o )

I try not to look at Boden or mini_Boden until they have a sale (sign up for their e-mail list). Otherwise, I’d be BROKE!

Oh! I love the Chic Applique coat. I might need to check that out as well.

So glad to see remarks from you updating us on the happenings. I have imagine everyone sick with the bug including baby. So I was part right. I had a port-a-cath put in yesterday and I am still groggy. Decided to drop by and say hello to everybody real quick. I can barely keep my eyes opened and the pain is under control because I have had so much worse. So glad to hear from you. Love your clothing choice. I love them but because of my height they don’t exactly love me. I have to stick to Talbots here on the east coast who make clothes for the fuller-shorter woman. Their clothes are real nice. I use to sew, so I check out for things that other might not look for. You know seams, hems, fabric content, etc. I am well satisfied. Now, my daughter loves her stores for the tiny people but thank goodness she is 5 foot 1 and 1/2 so she doen’t have as much a hard time. Love the catalog. Talbots clothes the business woman and woman at home but at times real pricey. So be good, HA!HA!HA! Have a wonderful family weekend.

Hi, found your blog - and your freebies - & have laughed, sympathized, and celebrated with you. I also downloaded your wonderful papers, bows, & other stuff. I now have a great stash of goodies for me to play with while I learn how to use PSE. Love the colors! Thank you so much for it all.

Ok… ok… I was not going to come all the way over to call you, BUT you left me no choice… HOW ARE you???
How are the boys? Did all the teeth come out? I hope so!!! It’s a difficult moment. Rebeca’s process was painful, for all of us…
Well just came by to say hello and if u need anything from the other corner of the globe just call.

Great to see you smiling Logan!!!! Hope the toothy hurtys are all over!
