Moody on Monday

One week. Just one more week until Hunter is back at school, and this year he’ll be there full time! It makes me feel bad to admit that I am not only counting the days until school starts, but that I am counting the hours. This summer has been too long, and I am ready to get back into a good schedule and hopefully manage to get back to work. It’s been hard to really work with both kids here and I am starting to feel really antsy about the not working thing. I’ve only managed to get one real project done (for work) since Logan was born in January and though it is not “required” for me to work I am missing the extra cash and the feeling of contributing to the household. Yes, I know that I raise the kids, feed them, play with them, do the chores and cook all of the meals, but I really do like it when I am working as well as doing those things.

I have a project in the works though and have plans for what follows as well. I’m hoping that Logan will continue to take at least two good naps every day (while Hunter is at school) and that I’ll be able to just get down here and plug away in the peace and quiet at those times. I also have more digi-scrap products (and freebies) planned which fall into my big schedule as well. If only I was better with time management and could really focus on just one thing at a time…. life would be easier I think.

I did 10 loads of laundry yesterday! Yes, you read that right, 10 loads! When Logan was born I turned the laundry duties over to Tim and it seems that he has been falling behind. So when Logan got up long before the sun yesterday I just started doing chores. All of the clothes are clean and most of them are folded… I’ll be trying to get everything put away today and then doing my best to keep up with it all (if you’ve been around here long enough you’ve read of my laundry woes before) so that I never again have to do 10 loads in one day.

I sat down yesterday and made lists (I should scan them because they’re kind of funny). A daily schedule (kind of a list) of what needs to happen when, a weekly list of chores that need to be done (for example, laundry on Tuesday and Friday), a long term list of goals that I want to reach before the end of the year and a short term list of goals that I want to reach before school starts on Tuesday next week. I love lists… and with these in the front pages of a pretty little book I am hoping that I can just sit down for five minutes every day and make sure that I get everything on that day’s list done as well as the other things that come up.

(As I type, my feline friend, Strider is pigging up my chair… why is it that I am the one perched precariously on the edge?)

Yesterday we went to a neighborhood association picnic. I’m not sure if it was for the whole of the group or if it was just the board members (Tim is the editor for the newsletter and does all of the flyers that they need as well) but regardless, it was a really nice time. The President of the NA lives just a couple of blocks from us, so we walked there with Logan in his stroller and Hunter asking “are we there yet?” the whole way. It was nice to get to know some more people from the neighborhood and I met a couple of nice moms (one with a little one just two months older than Logan) and another Logan (from yet another family… and he’s going in to third grade)! I thought that I had picked this wonderfully original name for my wee one, but it seems to be more popular than I anticipated. (I think we have only met one other Hunter in all this time and he wasn’t from our town). Jen, Mark and their kids were there as well and we just had a nice little time.

And (drumroll please!!!) at the picnic Logan took his first real steps! I wish that I had had my camera with me. Sadly I do not have these little steps recorded for prosperity, but I will remember them always. I will also remember that I have won the bet with Jen and she now has to take Logan out to buy his first pair of “real” shoes. Oh my little dude is growing up! I can’t believe he’s not even 8 months old yet and already starting to walk. I hope that by next week he’s a little more steady and he can walk around a bit on the first day of school…. just to show off.

(In the little break I took between writing the first couple of paragraphs of this, putting Logan down for his nap and coming back to the computer I also managed to make a meal plan for the week and write my grocery list! I am on a roll this morning.)

Over the weekend I whipped up a new tshirt for my cafepress shop (because I wanted it, and heck I might as well sell them if I make them) and I am just in love with it. It’s the cute little Paper Moons signature pink cupcake (have you noticed the “let them eat cupcakez blinkie on the sidebar?) and it’s just so cute and sweet. I know that shirts from cafepress can be a bit spendy, so I go for a pretty minimal markup (a girl has to make a profit you know)… and I thought I’d give you guys the link, just in case you’d like one of the cute little cupcake shirts.

I don’t know that I have too much else to talk about this morning.  There’s lots going on and there are many many things that I want to show you all, but that is going to have to wait for a little bit… until I am totally ready.

New freebies will be coming soon as well as some new products “in the shop” and perhaps a little contest and maybe some new Tshirts… and maybe, just maybe a big announcement.  Have a wonderful Monday everyone!

Congrats on having a walker! It was not long after that when both of my kids gave up the morning nap (hate to tell ya!) - but my nephew kept two naps for 16 months, so there is hope!!

My guys all walked early, too — keeps you hopping, doesn’t it?! :-)
I did seem to be early on the “Hunter” bandwagon — my Hunter just turned 14 last week, and though we’ve met a bunch of younger Hunters, we’ve not met any the same age or older. Our youngest is a Kyler, which is really rare, but we’ve actually read about quite a few with his name (a number in the state newspaper, and then we googled his whole name (first & last) last month, and found a range of kids across the country with the same name — he got a real kick out of that!! Our middle one is a Connor, which is pretty common these days, but I had a strong feeling about his name for some reason! ;-)
Mine are all back in school now! Yea!!! The house is much quieter, and I’m actually getting work done again!! The dogs are already back into their napping routine again, too. The boys were getting on my nerves these past few weeks — I think they were getting on each other’s nerves, too! They’re happy to be back with their friends now, though! :-)
    Have a great week!

Yep! Been there, done that and got the t-shirt re: counting the days til the kids are back at school.. .and that need to work… whether it’s for contributing to the household or just the inner need to do something that’s unrelated to being a wife, mum etc.. I love my little ones.. but I needed that time too… it was hard work. I blogged a bit today about it.. about putting things off until “life settles down” as an online friend talked about it and she has 3 little ones under 3! It challenged me in my life now to just “go for it”. To do the things I’ve been putting off since my kids were little.. and now there’s just me and Steve… No excuses.

Oh and yes, I did 10 loads of washing many times… 4 under 4 created plenty for me to do LOL And great that Hunter has started walking. My little grandbaby, Jorja, is 8mths and has only just started to walk round the furniture! It’s funny to watch. Hope you have a great afternoon/evening! Oh btw did you get my email?

Ten loads of washing! Go Anna! I’ve had days like that…days I’d rather forget lol! But I so envy you getting all organised and on top of things…humph, I’ll have to get inspired myself soon or it’ll be impossible to catch up.

(Aaargh! I can’t get the link to work…I think it’s just me though coz I can get the Cafepress home page, but everything I try just gets me an error…I’ll try again tomorrow!)

I was always ready for my kiddos to go back to school! They are usually getting bored with the summer stuff and wanting more to do by then so it was always a nice switch.

Sounds like you had a super productive few days, I love it when that happens.

Wow taking steps at 8 months, whew he will be moving around quickly.

Logan is walking??? WOW! What a tough little dude!

10 loads of laundry…the story made my eye start twitching! LOL! YIKES!

I understand the cats taking over the chair. What a funny story.

    Your Cafepress shirt is adorable!

Way to go for Logan walking, great !! And I notice you are getting very very organised, making all those lists and ofcourse sticking to them ! My girls will be going back to school next Monday, hopefully I can get something of a routine too, because this household is getting a bit messy and NOT VERY organized LOL Maybe I will start making lists too ;-)
